Brontë Cottage is a beautiful 3-bedroom Yorkshire Dales holiday cottage situated on the edge of a working farm alongside the Clough River, 4 miles east of Sedbergh. This cottage offers gorgeous views of Rise Hill and modern amenities, perfect for holidays with family or friends.

This former Methodist church has been fully refurbished to a high standard and beautifully decorated throughout, starting with the spacious living room containing plush sofas that can comfortably seat all guests and a stunning wood-burning fire and Smart TV for your stay.

The kitchen, with a large dining table, has modern appliances that make it perfect for cooking all meals during your holiday, including a Rangemaster oven, an induction hob, a dishwasher, a fridge and freezer, and a double Belfast sink. A utility/laundry room with a washer/dryer is also available to make life easier, plus a toilet and basin.

Upstairs are three light and bright double bedrooms, one being en-suite too! Large windows allow you to enjoy the breathtaking countryside views while staying here. The family bathroom has a walk-in shower, basin, Velux window & a toilet overlooking the river below.

Outside is a lawned garden plus a paved patio area, with garden furniture overlooking the river below - a perfect place to relax or plan the next activities. Purpose-built steps lead to the water edge, making it easy to paddle in the water.

Brontë Cottage is connected to ultra-fast B4RN fibre broadband, offering excellent connectivity for streaming or for guests that need to do a little work while away.

  • Kitchen / Diner: Open plan with a six-seat dining table (can extend, with matching chairs, to seat eight), Rangemaster oven, induction hob, dishwasher, toaster, microwave, kettle, fridge and freezer. Utility room off the kitchen with a washer, dryer, ground floor toilet, and basin.
  • Entrance Porch: With heating and coat hooks, perfect for hanging wet walking gear and muddy shoes.
Upstairs
  • Bedroom 1: King-size double bed, dual-aspect windows with views of the property's front and side, plus a Velux roof window and an en-suite bathroom that comprises a shower cubicle, toilet and basin.

  • Bedroom 3: Double bed, dual-aspect windows with views to the rear of the property and the river below.

  • EV Charger (7Kw Type 2 Charger) is available (charges apply).
  • This property sources water from a private natural spring. The water is ION and UV-filtered and tested to be safe for drinking. However, guests with sensitive digestive systems may wish to purchase bottled water due to the higher natural mineral content.
  • The valley does not receive terrestrial TV signal. The TV is a Smart TV, with apps including iPlayer, ITVx, Channel4 to allow watching TV over the internet.
  • Bed linen, towels and a starter supply of guest consumables are provided, as is a small supply of wood and firelighters for the wood-burning fire. 
  • A Travel cot and a high chair are available on request.
  • 1x Dog is welcome but not allowed upstairs. Additional dogs may be accommodated by prior arrangements subject to their breed and size. 
  • The river adjacent to the cottage is usually slow flowing and great for paddling in; however, the river may flow higher and quicker than usual after rainfall. Guests should exercise caution, and children must be supervised at all times.
     
  • The cottage is situated on a working farm. While the garden is partially enclosed, it is not escape-proof, especially for larger dogs, and there are sheep in the surrounding fields. As such, it's imperative dogs are kept on leads at all times while in the garden or walking in the fields.

Brontë Cottage is situated in the Yorkshire Dales, a stunning and picturesque area of Northern England renowned for its natural beauty and dramatic landscapes. The cottage is located on the banks of the Clough River and provides easy access to a host of popular visitor attractions.

Sedbergh is only 4 miles from the property and boasts quaint streets with plenty of independent shops and eateries to explore, as well as two lovely pubs, the Dalesman and The Black Bull Inn serve food. A traditional open-air market is held every Wednesday from 08.30, where you'll find fruit & veg, bread, meat, fish, eggs, cheese and more.

Nearby (5 miles) is Garsdale railway station which offers regular services to other parts of the Dales. From here, visitors can explore some of Yorkshire's most popular destinations, including Dent; Settle; Haworth, home of the famous Brontë Sisters; Hebden Bridge, with its vibrant independent shops and artists' studios; and Grassington, a charming village nestled in the heart of the Dales.

Another popular village is Hawes (11 miles) in Wensleydale, home to Wensleydale Cheese! The town has various attractions, including the Dales Countryside Museum and the historic Wensleydale Railway. A popular walk is Hardraw Force Waterfall, the highest single-drop waterfall in England.

Guests keen to explore the Lake District National Park will find it easy to reach. Lake Windermere is just 20 miles from the cottage, where you can hop onboard one of the cruise boats or hire your own boat!
