Windermere (3 miles), where you will find more shops, restaurants, and the Windermere Train Station, which links to the West Coast train mainline. Hawkshead (5 miles) is on the opposite side of the Lake, and you can get there via the car ferry from Windermere, or it's a lovely drive around the north end of the Lake.
Ullswater (10 miles) is over Kirkstone Pass - Well worth a visit to England's second-largest lake. On the way, stop at Kirkstone Pass Inn. At 1500m above sea level, you'll be in awe of the fantastic views!
