Brintons have been awarded the Royal Warrant, which indicates the standards you can expect throughout. All the beds are handmade by And So To Bed, a specialist in fine antique-style beds, and our mattresses are Vi-Spring Elite - one of the best mattresses money can buy.

Don't forget the grounds include your private stretch of half a mile of lakeshore, traditional boathouse and jetty for the ultimate in selfie settings. Your security is paramount; gated access and CCTV are on the external areas. Ground Floor
  • Enter the Lake View Room, which has two seating areas: one with a log burner and the other with a Smart TV.
  • A few steps up lead to further seating and the entrance to the dining room/kitchen, which has a lake view and a large dining table seating 12.
  • The kitchen has all the mod cons, including two ovens, two dishwashers, two fridges, a freezer, a salad drawer, a coffee machine (bean-to-cup), a Quooker boiling water tap, a warming drawer, temperature-controlled storage for red and white wine, and a waste disposal unit.
  • The cinema room has sumptuous seating, a deep carpet, and a giant screen with surround sound.
  • The 'Wellness Zone' has a bar area (drinks are not supplied), a Laconium (like a sauna but with a gentler, drier heat), bi-fold doors to the 'yoga terrace', and a hot tub with outdoor corner suite, lake, and mountain views.
  • Dog-friendly spacious 'boot room' with underfloor heating, sink, and cloakroom.
  • The ground-floor Bonscale suite has a king-size brass bedstead, bespoke oak furniture, a wall-mounted TV, and a spacious luxury en suite with underfloor heating, a deep bath, and a walk-in shower.
  • 13 steps to the first-floor level and all the remaining 5 suites.
Upstairs
  • The Boredale suite has a king-size brass bedstead, bespoke oak furniture, wall-mounted TV, access directly to the hot tub terrace and an en suite with underfloor heating and a walk-in shower.

  • The Pikeawassa suite is the largest of the suites and has a dual-aspect view, striking super-king-size metal bedstead, bespoke oak furniture, a wall-mounted TV, and a two-part 'en-suite' featuring a stand-alone deep bath with its own wall-mounted TV and a further en-suite room with a walk-in shower with rain shower head and hand attachment.
  • External access room for outdoor gear drying and secure storage of cycles, etc.
  • There is a gas barbecue on the terrace with various seating choices and an outdoor kitchen with worktops, a sink, and storage. Trestle tables and chairs are available on request for outdoor dining.

  • Logs are supplied for the first night's use of the log burner. Further log supplies are available at Pooley Bridge.
  • There is a washer and dryer in the boot room, which is also suitable for cleaning muddy dogs (an outdoor tap is available).
  • Although celebration events are permitted, please be considerate about noise levels after 10 p.m. if guests are staying in the nearby Great Barn.
  • Waternook and the adjacent Great Barn can be booked separately. Therefore, The Great Barn may be occupied by guests during your stay at Waternook.
  • NOTE: A GBP1000.00 security deposit is required 14 days before arrival, and it must be made via bank transfer.
Howtown

About the location

Waternook is set in 27 acres of secluded, private grounds near the hamlet of Howtown on the shores of Ullswater. Just a few minutes' stroll to the pier to board the historic Ullswater Steamer services that ply the full length of the lake.

Pooley Bridge is the nearest village (4 miles), where you will find more pubs, tea rooms and cafes, a village shop, a deli and the terminus for the Ullswater Steamers.

You are spoilt for choice for walking routes with low-level lake shore ambles and mountain-top hikes literally starting straight from the house. Famous mountain tops such as Helvellyn and High Street are within easy reach. This is also prime mountain biking territory with bridleways and other traffic-free routes nearby.

Penrith is an attractive traditional Cumbrian market town with a west coast mainline railway station, major supermarkets and a range of good independent shops including the wonderful J+J Graham's deli and bakery. On the outskirts is the Rheged visitor centre with IMAX cinema, exhibitions, adventure play, and specialist food and gift retailers
