6 The Mews

Bampton
Sleeps 2
Bedrooms 1
Dog Friendly
6 The Mews is a gorgeous one-bedroom cottage with an enclosed garden that has been beautifully furnished throughout to provide a cosy holiday home for two guests, perhaps for a walking holiday or a romantic getaway.
1 One-night stays are permitted Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights (except in July and August) to accommodate walkers on the Waignrights Coast2Coast walking trail. Please call us to book a one-night stay.

The building dates back decades to its former use as an agricultural building; indeed, No 6 was formally the turnip store! The buildings were converted in the 80s (and the turnips removed) to provide the wonderful accommodation available today. Being a corner groundfloor plot, No 6 also benefits from a large enclosed garden, complete with garden furniture, to make the most of the countryside views. The garden will be ideal since this property allows up to one dog.

You enter the property from the cobbled lane to the front, into the hallway which leads to the open plan living area and kitchen, complete with comfy sofa seating and a large Freeview Smart TV, ideal for cosying up in the evening to was a good film on Netflix or Prime. The kitchen area is well appointed, so you'll have no problem cooking a meal unless you decide to pop out to the local Mardale Inn Community pub, less than a 5-minute walk away, for a bite to eat.

Off the living area is the double-glazed conservatory, with sofa seating, armchairs and an electric fire for the chillier months. This is a wonderful relaxing space with a good book or an afternoon nap. On the warmer days, open the French doors onto the garden!

Finally, the bedroom is a tranquil space with a king-size double bed, fluffy cushions, and a calming colour scheme. It is en suite and comprises a walk-in shower with an electric shower unit, a toilet, and a basin.

Overall, 6 The Mews is the perfect choice for couples who want to escape to the countryside for a relaxing break. Fabulous local walks and friendly locals - what more could you ask for? Oh yes, WiFi, there is WiFi!

About the location

Nestled within the Eastern Fells of the Lake District National Park and in proximity to Haweswater, Bampton is a quaint hamlet characterised by St. Patrick's Church, charming traditional dwellings, farms, a multi-functional establishment offering a shop, post office, and tea room, a local pub, a few bed and breakfast accommodations, and holiday residences. Despite the captivating allure of its surroundings, this picturesque haven remains relatively undiscovered.

Set against the agricultural landscapes enveloping the village, the head of the valley boasts Haweswater and the rugged magnificence of the surrounding hills and fells, which include High Street, Harter Fell, and several low-level walks meander along the banks of the River Lowther. Haweswater also homes the stunning Haweswater Hotel, which has magnificent views and a fine dining experience.

Nearby Lowther Castle is a must-visit; visitors can explore the castle's remnants, have a go on the amazing adventure playground and appreciate the architectural and historical significance it holds within the Lake District's cultural heritage. If you don't fancy the castle, you can visit the Birds of Prey Centre, or perhaps walk the many footpaths through the castle grounds.

Abbott Lodge, in the Eden Valley, is a sustainable dairy farm producing 40+ flavours of Jersey ice cream, using robotic milking and eco-friendly practices like glass milk bottles.

The nearest village is Shap, famed for being the highest village in England. Primarily focussed on the main street, the village offers a selection of pubs, a chippy takeaway and a Co-Op convenience store offering a good range of food items and essentials.

There is so much to see and do nearby that 6 The Mews will provide a popular base to explore this beautiful area.
