Avondale Bungalow is a 2-bedroom bungalow with a lovely and private garden, situated in the picturesque village of Staveley in the Lake District National Park, close to Kendal and Windermere.
The location, just a short stroll from the Hawkshead Beer Hall and many other fantastic eateries, makes this an ideal holiday getaway with loads of walks from your doorstep and still within easy reach of the popular visitor attractions.
Staveley is also a popular starting point for mountain bikers taking to the many trail routes nearby.
Staveley is a small village with lots of character! The village sits at the mouth of the Kentmere Valley, a popular area for walkers and mountain bikers and Kendal is only 4 miles away and Windermere, 3 Miles, both of which can be easily reached by car, bus or train. It is an ideal base from which to explore the Lake District and wider Cumbria area and the hourly Lakes Explorer bus service from Lancaster and Keswick, runs through Staveley, stopping just down the lane from the Bungalow!
Historically, Staveley was a producer of woollen cloth, harnessing the river-power to turn mills, and later cotton, but as the cotton trade moved to Lancashire, the mills were converted to work wood, in particular making bobbins, which become the main product manufactured in the area. Although the manufacturer has ceased, some of the buildings still exist, the most popular being the Staveley Mill Yard, which is now a popular visitor attraction, home to the Hawkshead Brewery and Beer Hall, Wilf's Cafe, Wheelbase Cycle Store and many other smaller businesses. The Mill Yard is only 5 minute's walk from the bungalow. The Eagle and Child Pub is also very popular for their range of ales and great food as well as the outdoor seating right next to the river!
