Carpets have been removed to reveal the original wood floorboards, which are stunning and complemented by the contrasting white clothes storage units. The bathroom comprises a walk-in shower, a basin and a loo—airing cupboard in the corner.

Kendal train station links to Windermere train station and Oxenholme train station on the West Coast mainline, with frequent trains between London Euston and Glasgow Central. Also nearby is the Kendal bus station, where you can catch the 555 Lake Explorer, an hourly service between Kendal and Keswick, stopping at Staveley, Windermere, Ambleside, Rydal, Grasmere and Keswick. Daily tickets are available from the driver or bus app, which is a great way to see the Lakes without the car and associated car parking charges.
